Karolinska in world's top 50
Stockholm's Karolinska Institute is one of the 50 best universities in the world, according to a new study by Jiao Tong University in Shanghai.
Eleven Swedish universities make it into the top 500 in the list, which is led by Harvard and in which Cambridge University comes second.
The Karolinska Institute comes 48th on the list, with Uppsala the second placed Swedish university at 65. Stockholm University was in 84th place and Lund was placed 90.
Other Swedish universities on the list include Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Gothenburg University, the Swedish University of Agricultural Science in Uppsala, Umeå University, Linköping University and the Stockholm School of Economics.
Overall, eight of the top ten universities on the list were in the United States, with the other two being Cambridge and Oxford in the UK.
