The Local: bigger and better than ever

As you may have noticed, The Local was down for a while this weekend. The reason for this is that we have been carrying out a major update of the site to give more room for exclusive content and to make it easier for you to navigate.

The first thing you will notice is that the homepage is wider. This enables us to let you know when new features appear in the Swedish Life and the new Opinion and Analysis section. This latter section will now include in-depth articles about subjects making the news.

Other new sections include Travel, which kicks off with an article about a Thai temple in the unexpected location of Sundsvall. We will be updating this section regularly with tips about how to make the most out of living in Sweden.

We also have a new weather section, with detailed local forecasts for the whole of Sweden.

One of the things that many of our readers ask for is tips about how to get jobs in Sweden. That's why we've overhauled our jobs section in association with Stepstone. The jobs section will now contain dozens of of new English-speaking jobs in Sweden, as well as jobs abroad, every week.

The relaunched site also features a gallery with images of Sweden by French photographer Rodolphe Foucher.

We hope you enjoy the changes we have made to The Local. As with any overhaul of this kind, technical glitches can occur from time to time. If you come across anything that doesn't seem right, or if you just want to let us know what you think of the new site, please email me on [email protected].

Many thanks for your patience during this update, and we hope you continue to enjoy reading The Local in its new, improved form!

Sincerely,

James Savage
