Picasso stolen from Malmö house

Artwork worth 1.9 million kronor, including work by Picasso, was stolen on Tuesday night from a house in Malmö.

The art was part of a private collection owned by a woman in her nineties, who lives at the townhouse in the Västervång area of the city. She was not home at the time of the break-in.

The house was alarmed, but in the twenty minutes it took security guards to arrive the thieves made away with ten pieces by artists including Picasso, Klee, Chagall, Miro and Braque.

"We believe that the thieves knew what was in the property, and also knew that nobody was home," said Björn Jacobson at insurers Länsförsäkringar.
