Golf balls 'an environmental hazard'

The Swedish environmental court in Växjö has ruled that flying golf balls are to be classified as an environmental hazard in the same way chunks of rock are after being blown up during demolition.

The environmental court ruling applied to Araslöv golf course in southwest Sweden, but could have consequences for golf courses around the country if an appeal is not made.

The judgment could force courses to put of netting to prevent the occasional hooked ball from entering the surrounding area.
