“The new C30 is a ‘cool’ car – a car aimed at young singles or pairs with a fast pace of life,” said Volvo Cars' CEO Fredrik Arp. “The car was designed to meet their tastes and lifestyle.”

The car has a dynamic front with a sleek silhouette. The design of the production-ready car is in line with what was on display as the C30 Design Concept at the Detroit Motor Show at the start of the year.

“The C30 has a lot of muscle in a sporty and compact package,” said Volvo Cars' head of design Steve Mattin.

The car will be available with different motor packages. C30 is set to have a four cylinder, 100 horsepower engine, an efficient 1.6 litter diesel with 109 horsepower or even a two turbo models with up to 220 horsepower.

In Sweden, the Volvo C30 is also available with an environmentally-friendly FlexiFuel engine.

Volvo Cars, owned by Ford Motor Company, is set to produce 65,000 C30s and said some 75 percent of the new model will be sold in Europe. The largest market will be Italy, followed by Germany, Spain and Britain. Sweden will be the seventh largest market with an estimated 4,000 C30s being marketed in the area.

The new car will be presented during the Paris Motor Show and will be in production by the end of 2006.
