Woman jailed for rape lies

A 26-year-old woman in Örebro, central Sweden, has been sentenced to jail for lying about being raped.
The woman reported her 34-year-old boyfriend for rape five times, Dagens Nyheter reports.
The Örebro district court ordered her to jail for eight months for filing false reports to the police and is requiring her to 20,000 kronor in reparation to the man.
The woman claimed she was cut with a knife two times by her boyfriend. A doctor who inspected the wounds said they were self made.
According to the ruling, she offered relatives money to give false witness. If she were to receive reparation, she would then share the money.
The ruling said nothing other than jail time would be appropriate for the woman. The sentencing is a reflection of how long the false charges have carried on.
