Death warrant for crazed bird
It isn’t exactly what Alfred Hitchcock envisioned in his 1963 classic The Birds which left Tippy Hedren boarding up windows; nevertheless residents of Tranås are seeking permission for a hunter to shoot one particular crazed wagtail that has been haunting the town recently.
The Tranås district, in south-central Sweden, is asking for permission from the county administrative board to kill an aggressive bird that has been attacking windows in the area for the past two months. Residents said they think the bird sees its own reflection and becomes so worked up it lunges and pecks at home and shop windows.
Locals are sad about what they say has to be done, but said previous attempts to relocate the bird have proven unsuccessful.
On the application for the permit, the wagtail “constitutes an inconvenience for people’s health.”
