Girl escapes after torture ordeal

A 16 year old girl was bound, beaten and slashed with a knife for several hours in Märsta, north of Stockholm, on Wednesday.
The girl's former boyfriend, aged 18, was arrested in Stockholm later in the afternoon after having been charged in his absence on suspicion of attempted murder, according to police spokesman Kenneth Lindfors.
The girl managed to escape and alerted police. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but they were not said to be life-threatening.
