"He will succeed Manfred Baaske, who is retiring," said Christer Gustafsson, press officer at Volvo Cars, to TT.

"Lars Danielson has a very good background, so he was an obvious choice to follow Baaske."

Danielson, 57, has worked at Saab for 26 years, reported Göteborgs-Posten's web edition.

"We are naturally sorry that he chose to leave us, but there are many good candidates both within Saab and within the GM group who can take over," said Christer Nilsson, press officer at Saab Automobile, to TT.

The exact date for Lars Danielson's move to Volvo has not yet been set.
