Fault halts Nordic trading

Technical problems stopped trading on Nordic stock exchanges on Thursday morning. The Stockholm, Helsingfors, Copenhagen and Oslo bourses were affected.

Just before 10am the Stockholm bourse announced that deals could be entered into the system once again and trading resumed on the hour.

The fault affected the Saxess trading system used by the Nordic exchanges.

"A number of traders had problems placing orders and so we chose to delay trading. But obviously we're working as fast as we can to solve the problem," said Stockholm bourse press officer Ulrika Areskog to TT earlier in the morning.

The Stockholm exchange usually opens at 9am.
