Escaped woman returns to secure hospital
KATRINEHOLM. A 26 year old woman who escaped from Karsudden secure hospital a few days ago returned voluntarily on Friday.
The woman, who was sentenced to psychiatric care after killing her grandmother in 1999, was granted a one month parole on Wednesday by the district court.
On the same day, the woman's two year old daughter was brought to visit her by her foster parents. The woman took the girl, jumped in a waiting car and left the hospital.
Police across the country were put on alert, and officials feared that the woman would try to leave Sweden.
Her parole permission was withdrawn in her absence and a social services board decided that the daughter could be taken from the woman, who is still her legal guardian.
On Thursday and Friday the woman contacted her lawyer and the doctor treating her.
She returned to the hospital on Friday afternoon. The girl will be returned to the foster family.
