The woman's daughter was visiting Karsudden hospital, which handles criminals with severe psychological disorders, with her foster parents. The alert was put out by the hospital at around midday.

According to Sörmland police, the woman and her daughter were picked up in a white estate car. There were possibly two other people in the car.

The woman was sentenced to psychiatric care in 1999 after being found guilty of killing her grandmother. When she escaped previously, in June 2003, police warned that she could pose a danger to herself and to others.

She was on the run for seven months and in the summer of 2004 her daughter was born. According to Aftonbladet, the father was a former patient in Karsudden although no name has been registered.

The woman is now suspected of abduction and police fear that she could have taken her daughter out of the country.

"If anyone sees her we would like them to inform the nearest police station," said Anders Arvidsson, at Katrineholm police, to Aftonbladet.
