Stockholm city court came to its decision at a hearing to review the case. The hearing was held behind closed doors. It was chief prosecutor, Tomas Lindstrand, who requested that the court release the man.

"My view is that the so called exceptional grounds for detention have been significantly eroded and the part of the investigation concerning him is more or less done. I don't believe he can compromise the investigation and I don't believe he's about to flee the country. And I don't believe he's going to continue his criminal activities either," said Lindstrand.

But the 19 year old still remains under suspicion of conspiring to commit terrorist acts and could have been released without a court decision.

"But I wanted him to answer certain questions before a court," said the prosecutor. The questions concerned what the 19 year intended to do if he was released. He gave the answers the court and the prosecutor wanted to hear. Tomas Lindstrand refused to go into details concerning the suspicions surrounding the man. The charge of conspiracy means that a suspect decides together with another to commit a criminal act. Lindstrand considers that there are still grounds for holding the other man in the case, a 22 year old from Botkyrka, in custody. He can be held until 30th March and is suspected of carrying out the attack against the Iraqi polling station in Kista last December, as well as conspiring to commit a terrorist act.
