Investigators say that they have found no technical faults on the bus which crashed outside Arboga last week, killing nine people.

The bus has now been examined in Örebro by the police's own technical experts, several papers in Sweden have reported.

"Their response is that they did not discover any technical faults which could have caused the accident," said Ulf Palm, the information officer at Västerås police.

"There was nothing wrong with the brakes, steering or anything else."

In parallel with the police enquiry, the Swedish Accident Investigation Board is carrying out its own analysis of the incident.

The accident happened last Friday lunchtime, when the bus slid off the E18/E20 highway, rolled over and landed on its roof 25 metres from the road.
