SAS strike called off

SAS pilots have called off their strike action, according to the pilots' union. The reason is the threats of new counter-measures from the SAS management, reported the Ritzau news agency.

"This afternoon the pilots will be called upon to decide if they want to start flying again. As we see it, in this way SAS wants to influence every one of the pilots to resume work," wrote the pilots in a press statement.

"We regard this as an indirect threat of dismissal and we do not want to expose a single pilot to this difficult situation," the statement continued.

The pilots' wildcat strike cost SAS 45 million kronor.

"This means that SAS will operate normal flight traffic to and from Copenhagen from Thursday morning," said SAS information director Hans Ollongren to TT.

"Our hope is that we can now continue the discussions with the pilot representatives without our customers needing to be affected as they have over the last few days."

Hans Ollongren claimed that the strike action had seriously damaged the SAS brand.
