No room on church island for Swedish atheists
From the beginning of this year, only members of the Swedish Church are allowed to stay overnight on the picturesque Halland island of Väderö, which is owned and managed by a local congregation.
There has been considerable demand for the accommodation which the church has on the island, and from now on, staying overnight there will be considered a 'membership benefit', reported Helsingborgs Dagblad.
Atheists and people of other faiths are not welcome - a fact which does not bother church warden Lena Pettersson.
"It's a benefit for our members since they have paid a membership fee," she said.
