Volvo's truck information director Tommy Kohle said the company is switching to line assembly techniques to improve productivity in the face of global competition.

The company's cabin factory in Umeå plans a rationalisation which will cut its assembly costs by 10% this year, and by 21% eventually, said Dagens Industri.

Its truck factory in Tuve Gothenborg will this year get the full effect of new assembly efficiencies which will also increase its production capacity to 102 units a day from 84.
