An investigation has shown that Hans-Erik Malmros, who served on Sundby berg council and on Stockholm County Council, has made around 4,400 calls to sex lines.

Malmros, who represents the Moderate Party, decided to quit his job after the Social Democratic leadership of Sundbyberg Council reported him both to the police and to the Chancellor of Justice.

"The investigations will show that I have paid for my calls, contrary to what the council leadership claims," he told Dagens Nyheter.

He also accused the Social Democrats on the council of using his homosexuality against him.

"The council leadership is focusing on my sexual orientation, and I can't bear it any longer," added Malmros.

The 40-year old politician currently earns 50,000 a month. His occupational pension plan allows him to draw 32,000 kronor a month until he is 65.

"According to my calculations that means a cost of 11.7 million kronor," the council's chief executive told Metro.
