An automatic weapon was found near the scene.

At around 8.15pm police were alerted to the fact that someone was firing shots in the vicinity of Reykjaviksgatan, in the Ekeby part of south west Uppsala.

Several units went to the scene and discovered bullet holes in several window frames. Nobody was injured.

After the shots were fired a man was seen leaving the area perhaps on a motorcycle or moped, but witness accounts of his escape vary. Police said they would continue interviewing residents on Thursday.

Last year several shots were fired in the Gottsunda and Stenhagen areas of Uppsala. There are reports that similar incidents also occured in Ekeby.
