Details of the shooting are still vague, but it apparently happened on the street outside the Scandic Hotell on Tunnlandsvägen. According to the latest information, the man has been taken to hospital but his injuries are not serious.

Police were alerted to the incident just after 7am. Investigators blocked off the road while they looked for forensic evidence, but police said that by 9am only the scene of the shooting was closed off.

Police units on the scene are interviewing witnesses, who said that three people appeared to be involved before leaving in a grey car.

The victim was to be interviewed later in the morning and until then police are holding back.

"Until we have something to go on, there's no point beginning a search for the attackers," said police spokesman Christer Persson.
