Policemen charged with threatening 13 year old
Two Stockholm police officers who allegedly threatened to set their dog on a 13 year old boy have been charged with making an illegal threat against a child.
The policemen, who are aged 33 and 46, stopped the boy in Vällingby in January after he had been involved in trouble between two gangs.
They made him kneel on the ground and before long there were five officers at the scene. They asked him where he had hidden a knife which, by his own admission, he had been waving around.
When he failed to reply the younger policeman allegedly threatened to spray him with a pepper spray.
According to the boy's account, the older policeman said that a police dog would find the knife and that when it did it would want to be rewarded.
"Something to chew on - and we don't have any bones," the 46 year old is accused of saying. He then asked the boy if he could guess who the dog would want to chew.
"They were very tough on him," said Åke Broné, the boy's lawyer, speaking to Aftonbladet.
"They scared the living daylights out of the lad."
After his encounter with the police, the boy and his mother went to the police station to report that he had been threatened.
All five officers were interviewed in the internal investigation which followed, and initially all denied wrongdoing.
But, according to Aftonbladet, one of the officers then went back to investigators and said that he had omitted a crucial point in his statement. His new story matched the boy's description of events.
The two officers are facing charges of making an illegal threat, using illegal force and breach of duty.
They deny the charges.
