He is due to arrive in Stockholm on Sunday afternoon, with a meeting with Prime Minister Göran Persson and Education Minister Leif Pagrotsky scheduled for Monday. The two leaders will discuss strengthening of trade ties and technological cooperation.

Ricardo Lagos was last in Sweden in 2002, while Göran Persson visited Chile in 2003.

Chilean Foreign Minister Ignacio Walker will sign a bilateral accord on social security with Swedish minister Steffan Bengtsson, which is to benefit Chileans residing in Sweden.

Lagos will travel on to the Netherlands on Tuesday, concluding his trip Thursday in Spain where he will receive an honorary doctorate from Salamanca University.

In The Hague on Tuesday, Lagos will attend an audience with Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands.

On Wednesday, he has a meeting with International Criminal Court president Philippe Kirsch, as well as with Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende.
