The official declined to give other details, but Trabzon deputy governor Bahattin Atci told Anatolia news agency that the plane, with 317 passengers and 10 crew on board, was forced to land after smoke appeared in the cockpit.

The passengers were to spend the night in hotels in Trabzon, on Turkey's Black Sea coast, and a team of technicians was to come from Britain to repair the plane, which was en route from Abu Dhabi to Copenhagen, Atci said.
