Dagens Nyheter reported that the 18 year old "had things that belonged to the 59-year woman" in his house in New Delhi. Amongst other things police found a camera, a mobile phone and some cash.

The woman, an artist from Stockholm, had spent some time at a meditation centre. Mats Engström, spokesperson at the Swedish embassy, confirmed that the New Delhi police has been very efficient so far during the murder investigation.

"They are very skilled criminial investigators and have found a number of finger prints as evidence", said Engström to DN.

The 59-year old had been staying in Tamil Nadu, but had decided to visit Madurai, the famous city of temples, about 100 kilometres away.

"When she didn't return on the right day the staff at the meditation centre became very worried", reported DN. They contacted the police last week and the woman's dead body was found last Friday underneath a pile of rubble near the meditation centre.

The 18 year old is said to be the son of a local farmer, who is employed at the meditation centre. A catholic priest, named AMA Samy, who had befriended the woman, gave a statement saying he is convinced it was a question of "robbery and murder", according to Expressen on Monday.

The priest also had to identify the corpse and said he could identify her straight away. The New Delhi police has "hinted" that the woman may have been raped, killed and robbed of her belongings. But AMA Samy is of a different opinion. He believes it is a "robbery gone wrong" and that the woman had been "killed while defending herself".

"What has happened is horrendous, I am speechless", said the priest to Expressen.
