Swedes bought a record numbers of Plasma and LCD TVs during 2004.

Swedes are ditching their old sets in favour of the latest generation of hi-tech dream boxes if the figures for last year are anything to go by.

In 2004 35,070 Plasma TVs were sold: an increase of 306% on the previous year. 42" screens were the most popular.

LCD TV sales went up by 274%, totaling in the sale of 109,625 televisions. 15" screens were the most popular choice.

144,695 Plasma and LCD televisions were purchased in total last year and sales are expected to rise by 87 percent this year, according to a press statement by Samsung & IT Research.
