The stores located on Björkgatan, Kungsgatan and in Gottsunda are currently operating as Rätt Pris and have a combined market share of 12% in Uppsala.

"This transaction marks Axfood's continued work on expanding the Willys chain," says Anders Nyberg, head of Business Development at Axfood AB.

Willys has rapidly established itself as Sweden's largest discount food chain in the last eighteen months.

Anders Strålman, President of Willys AB, says: "We are happy to finally have this opportunity to offer Uppsala Sweden's cheapest bag of groceries."

The takeovers in Uppsala are not expected to result in redundancies for those currently employed by Rätt Pris.

Takeover of the stores will take place on 1 May 2005.
