Men on top in Swedish business

Three times more men run Swedish companies than women.

According to a report out today by Swedish industry watchdog Svensk Näringsliv (the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise), the skills of many competent and experienced Swedish women are going to waste.

A possible reason for this according to the self-proclaimed "pro-business interest organization" is that many women work in the public sector which leaves them little room to start their own business. At least that's what spokesperson Per Juth is saying.

The report shows there is some variation across the country but nowhere in Sweden are there as many women running companies as men.

There is some light on the horizon, claims Svensk Näringsliv. More women are starting new companies, but there are still twice as many men starting new business initiatives.
