Swedish steel industry on a high

In a special section on the Swedish steel industry, DI wrote that the industry earned just over 11 billion crowns last year and statistics reveal that Swedish steel exports reached record heights in 2004, increasing by 18 per cent to almost 45 billion crowns.

DI also reported that engineering giants Atlas Copco and Sandvik look set to benefit from the success of the steel industry.

During the third quarter of 2004 the inflow of orders at Atlas Copco’s unit for mining technology increased by 47 per cent compared to the same period in 2003. Sandvik's increase was 33 per cent.
