Travel companies consider seeking compensation
The earthquake in Asia has had a serious effect on Swedish charter tour companies.
Up to 250 million crowns has been lost according to an estimate made by Fons Brusselmans, MD of Apollo. The costs are due to cancelled trips and hiring aircraft to get tourists home from the areas affected.
Later this week companies are expected to make a decision as to whether they will demand compensation from the state.
Gothenburg car dealer sells Cadillac
It looks like GM may begin production of the luxury car Cadillac at Saab Automobile’s plant in Trollhättan. DI reports that in terms of selling the car, Hedin Bil in Gothenburg has been enlisted.
A new Swedish subsidiary Cadillac Sweden has been established to capture the market, and some 13 dealers have been recruited around the country. Hedin Bil is Sweden’s largest Mercedes dealer, and MD Anders Hedin estimates that turnover this year will increase by half a billion crowns to 2 billion.
Atlas Copco buys Danish company
Engineering group Atlas Copco has signed an agreement to buy the manufacturer of demolition equipment Lifton Bulgaria Eood, and the business of Danish company Lifton Breaker A/S. Their total turnover amounts to 55 million crowns and the companies have a total of 141 employees.
