Transport company accused of animal mistreatment
DN reported on Friday that a company dealing with animal transport in the Kronoberg region has been accused of mistreating animals. According to Björn Dahlén, veterinary surgeon in the area, the complaint refers to 25 malnourished, limping cows, also sufferering from cuts and bruises.
According to a local radio station some of the animals were apparently injured before they were put in the animal transport, but others show signs of having been crammed in travelling with too little room to move.
"In most cases the animals have not been fit for travel and that should have been discovered at the farm before sending them away," said Dahlén.
