TV violence rules to be tightened

Swedish television companies that "do not respect children" watching television during the day may be fined if they screen violence in daytime TV programmes, said DN on Monday.
The government is trying to tighten the rules for broadcasting corporations which currently follow a code of conduct stipulating that no violence should be screen before nine o'clock at night.
TV4 is allegedly in trouble for breaching this code, although the punishment may be little more than a telling off - it appears that a broadcasting company can only be fined if they actually break the TV and broadcasting laws, according to DN.
Even if a scene of violence is screened as part of a truthful "in-depth documentary of events" the company could theoretically be charged.
