TV documentary presents new Estonia ferry theory

When Swedish Television (SVT) screened their watchdog programme Uppdrag Granskning last Tuesday, a new theory emerged concerning the Estonia ferry disaster in 1994, reported DN on Tuesday.

Ten years after the disaster, a man who was employed at Customs and Excise at the time has "claimed knowledge" about a cargo aboard the vessel in form of "secret military equipment".

Lars Borgnäs, the journalist behind the investigative report from Uppdrag Granskning, believes the coastal guards and disaster recovery commission should have had this information from the start.

Mona Sahlin, Housing and Energy Minister, in whose hands the case rests, said she had no comments on the findings, reported DN.
