Stockholm police plan to clamp down on discrimination against customers in queues to restaurants, bars and night clubs, reported DN on Tuesday. They will be patrolling in plain clothes to spot doormen who turn away people apparently on the basis of their ethnicity.

Last Friday a group of men, some of whom were of ethnic origin, were rejected from a club in central Stockholm. Later that night the Europeans among the group were let in, while the others were turned away with the excuse that "there was a private party" in the club.

Police patrolling the area were called to investigate. It turned out the club was half empty and that the rejection was an obvious case of discrimination.
