Employment office taken to court
The woman who was recently rejected income support due to her lack of Swedish is going to take her matter to a tribunal and sue her job centre for discrimination, said DN on Sunday.
Rosa Salazar had been cleaning at Handelsbanken in Stockholm for eight years when she was made redundant. She lost her income support last September and was told that she "couldn't be of use in the job market due to her lack of Swedish", explained DN.
"To withdraw her support because of her language barrier is not strong enough as an argument in this case", said her lawyer Anders Karlsson.
He also highlighted the fact that she has already worked for eight years as a cleaner.
