All southbound traffic came to a halt on the E6 motorway on Monday following a landslide near Ljungskile, according to Svenska Dagbladet. Drilling machines and soil monitors have been installed to establish how safe the area is.

According to a woman who "was almost caught beneath the slide", she spotted the slide coming down the side of the cliff to her right and steered her car over to the left to avoid the debris. The end tail of her car was hit and her vehicle skidded at least 50 metres ahead and spun over on the side. The woman was taken to hospital but avoided any serious injuries.

Road workers estimate that the total amount of debris from the landslide is at least 400 cubic metres - most of which is scattered across the motorway.
