One in four stay in the same job for fifteen years

It is a myth that people change jobs more often today than they did a few decades ago, reported Wednesday's Svenska Dagbladet, citing a survey carried out by the employment magazine Du och Jobbet.

23% of those with permanent work have been in the same job for at least fifteen years. Another 15% stay in their job for up to ten years. This varies between different industries, but - somewhat surprisingly - the research showed that the agricultural and manual labour sectors keep their employees longer than other industries.

"Those who change their job most frequently are people working in banking and finance", reported Svenska Dagbladet.

The statistics also revealed that in those industries where people change job more frequently, they usually do so within the first two years.
