The thieves broke in to the former National Bank buildings, 'Södra Bancohuset', at Järntorget and stole the entire interior from one of the main boardrooms. They cut lose wall mounted benches and stole Gustavian tapestries from the 1750's. It's unclear if it's possible to make any repairs to the room.

The estimated loss is at least a couple of million crowns.

"The thieves must have known the value of these antiques", said Kjell Ahlin from the police in Stockholm.

Some of the goods was found a day later, but was very badly damage. It has been brought to the Royal Textile Chamber for analysis in an attempt to recover what is left of it.
