The 2006 elections may see the introduction of a new Feminist Party, and according to Aftonbladet Gudrun Schyman of the Left Party is the front runner to lead it.

However, Schyman claims it isn't a party as such, but "merely an initiative". The Left Party's second Secretary, Ulla Hoffmann, said "it is allowed for party members to work with external organisations outside the parliament, but you cannot join two parties".

Hoffmann herself doesn't believe there's a need for a purely feminist party in Sweden and pointed out that "all women are not the same".
